Powder Coating FAQs

What materials can be powder coated?

Typically any metal or material as long as it can withstand high temperatures.

Mild steel, galvanised and electroplated steel, aluminium, stainless steel and most other steel alloys can be powder coated. The powder coating process requires baking your material at extremely high temperatures, so softer materials like plastic, rubber etc cannot be powder coated.

How long does powder coating take?

We aim for a 7 day turnaround time. Our industry-grade equipment allows us to powder coat large batches simultaneously, saving time and ensuring consistent results. Due to variables out of our control (i.e. supplier delays) it may take a little longer, and we will inform you if this is the case.

How much does powder coating cost?

The cost of powder coating depends on your choice of powder and the surface area of your item(s). Additional requirements (i.e. UV resistance) may also influence the cost. To get a quote, drop by our workshop or e-mail us with details about your item and desired powder.

What colours can I choose from?

Choose from hundreds of colours. To see some of our range, visit the Browse Colours page. If you are looking to colour match or choose a colour not in the range, we can have this done for an additional charge.

Is powder coating water resistant?

Yes, our powder coating has resilience to New Zealand's challenging wet weather. We achieve this through HIPC's prep work, our pre-treatment process for aluminium and primer for other metals.
